The Excitement of Wildwood Weekend
Wildwood weekend is just days away as the annual New Jersey Firemen's Convention will begin on Friday. Thousands of firefighters from across the state will descend upon this Jersey Shore town for a weekend of education, meetings, and more.
As exciting as Wildwood weekend is, it's also bittersweet. This annual event was one of Lt. Christopher Hunter's favorite of the year. He looked forward to spending time in Wildwood with his family and his brothers.
As mentioned in an earlier post, the Hunter's Heroes Foundation will be in attendance for the third year. The foundation has a new location for 2017, inside the gated area with all of the main tents and vendors. We hope to see you at the convention!
For those of you making your first trip to Wildwood, take advantage of all the even has to offer. Even if you are a green firefighter, there's no better time than this weekend to pick the minds of some of the best firefighters in the state. You will have access to thousands of brothers and sisters. Be sure to stop, introduce yourself, and don't be afraid to ask questions. It's the best way to learn.
For those of you making a return trip to Wildwood, it's time to renew old friendships, start new ones, and learn something new about yourself or the profession. We know how fun it is to browse the tents and speak with the vendors. We also know how important a simple conversation can be with another attendee of the convention.
The entire event is punctuated with the parade of apparatus on Saturday. How can you go wrong with a parade of firetrucks, both classic and new? The parade draws thousands of people, both in the firefighting profession and civilians interested in the profession.
We hope you have fun this weekend. It all starts on Friday with the convention meetings and concludes Saturday with the parade. Our tent will be up for both days. You can't miss us; it's a big blue tent with our logo on it.
At this year's convention the Hunter's Heroes Foundation will have a wheelbarrow of cheer that you can win. We will also have games (spin the large wheel) for Phillies tickets, Scott SCBA testing, lottery tickets, cigars and a basket for the ladies. We will also be selling t-shirts this year, both long and short sleeve. They have a different design from year's past, so be sure to pick one up before you head home.
Check back with us in two weeks for pictures from Wildwood weekend and a complete recap. Next week we will be releasing information about our 2nd Annual Beef and Beer, which will be held this year on Saturday, November 11.
